Description
Presenters: Dr. Nancy Gordon, associate professor, and Gail Gonsalves, adjunct professor, Department of Counseling, Leadership and Expressive Arts
Critical concern: Nonviolence
Navigating in-class conversations that embrace multiple perspectives, diverse experiences and differing beliefs and value systems requires courage and a shift in how we organize our classrooms. This workshop will introduce a collaborative student-professor model for shared dialogue when challenging issues surface. The session will focus on the dialogue process, the principles for holding "courageous conversations" and the practice of facilitating them.
