Journal of Interdisciplinary Feminist Thought
Abstract
The Journal of Interdisciplinary Feminist Thought (http://digitalcommons.salve.edu/jift/) invites contributions for its next issue: The Power of Social Institutions and Women’s Lives Social institutions, complex organizations of beliefs, values, and expectations of a society, are powerful forces in the determination and regulation of the human behavior of its members. These institutions include governmental, religious, economic, educational, and health care institutions, as well as the media, and the family. Each of these institutions, nationally and internationally, influences the status, structure, and exercise of human rights for women today. For that reason, the editors of JIFT find that it is time to explore and highlight some examples of how powerful institutions may both limit and abuse the rights of contemporary women, and how women have struggled to address these issues.
