Abstract
In our third article “Finding the Story: Revolution in the Blackstone River Valley,” two public historians, Allison Horrocks and Mark Mello, describe their search for Revolutionary War history and sites in northwestern Rhode Island. Horrocks and Mello take their readers along with them when they tramp along streams, climb strenuous hills, explore out-of-the-way cemeteries, and as they pore over artifacts and written books and documents to augment their search. Although the area the two authors explore was never a site of armed conflict during the war, by focusing on individual people and their experiences, Mello and Horrocks demonstrate the war’s ample effects on the inhabitants of the region.
