Abstract
This article focuses primarily on Alfred Mahan and McCarty Little, both graduates of the college who would later serve integral parts in bringing about renowned respect to the Newport college. Mahan would go on to serve as the second president of the Naval War College and drew international acclaim after to the college after publishing his “Influence of Sea Power upon History, 1660-1783”. McCarty Little would go on to serve as a volunteer lecturer at the college while pioneering the study of war gaming at the college.
