Abstract
This segment includes a tribute to Gladys Bolhouse, curator of manuscripts at the Society from 1946 to 1992, in the wake of her passing. A font of knowledge about Newport history, Mrs. Bolhouse was consulted by historians from around the world and her name appears in the acknowledgments section of countless books and articles. In 1984, she was named Newport's first Official Historian by the Mayor and City Council. More than just a source for information about Newport history, Gladys Bolhouse was and is a part of Newport history.
