Abstract
This article, written by Newport Historical Society’s President Emeritus, describes the life of William A. Sherman in the wake of his passing on February 26, 1996. Sherman was one of the Newport Historical Society’s most outstanding and loyal members, who served as president from 1973 to 1987, and helped to achieve a major increase in the Society's membership and endowment fund.
