Abstract
This account and photographic essay intertwines the family histories of Lyman Colt Josephs I (1853-1942) and his wife, the former Alice Vernon Wilson (1860-1940), with the story of their summer estate called Louisiana, located on Easton’s Point in Middletown. Both Lyman and Alice had distinguished New Orleans and Baltimore backgrounds that united to make Louisiana an extraordinary Newport summer residence.
