The Mental Health Mastermind: How Noah Kahan Reduces Stigma
Meghan Deeley
Mental health anti-stigma strategies have been largely studied; however, limited research examines how musicians integrate lyrics and marketing strategies to reduce mental health stigma. This study fills the gap by analyzing the work of Noah Kahan, whose cultural prominence places him as an influential individual in normalizing mental health discourse. Drawing on existing research in anti-stigma campaigns, social media storytelling, and lyrical analysis, this study examines The Busyhead Project Instagram content and “Stick Season” lyrics. Using qualitative methods, findings illustrate that Kahan's incorporation of open reading lyrics with contact-based content enhances effectiveness of anti-stigma messaging. This research is a framework for how artists can leverage marketing strategies and lyrics to inspire mental health stigma reduction.

Teaching That Resonates: Reimagining High School Literature Through Real-World Connections
Lizzie Galanis
The current high school literature curriculum is overdue for reform. While classic books have value, teaching them in a modern context is crucial so the lessons can be translated to students’ daily lives. Integrating contemporary texts is essential when reimagining the curriculum because students can relate to them and connect with their themes. This paper analyzes five texts that would meaningfully enhance an updated curriculum. These texts promote real-world connections, interdisciplinary learning, and multicultural exposure. Schools and educators must reassess both what they teach and how they teach it to diversify the content and evolve with the times. Students should have practical takeaways from their literature class that will help them beyond school.

Through close reading and analysis of Dickinson and Kaur’s work this thesis identifies key stylistic and thematic elements and uses my findings to influence original poetry, with the goal of experimenting and expanding upon the use of craft within my writing. This project demonstrates how critical analysis of other successful authors can inform creative expression and broaden the literary realm.

“Good Don’t Listen”: Application of Situational Crisis Communication Theory to Online Cancelation
Teresa R. Sacchinelli
The cancel culture movement forces organizations to learn how to address a new kind of online crisis. Corporations use Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) to alleviate the reputational threat from an ongoing crisis. This study examines SCCT potential application in addressing cancelation through analysis of pop star The Weeknd’s response to backlash regarding his HBO show The Idol (2023). Findings revealed use of SCCT strategies in The Weeknd’s tweets, interviews, and press conference during the cancelation, but failure to follow theory guidelines, resulting in an ineffective reputation recouperation. Thus, the study finds possible application of the theory for cancelation if following guidelines correctly.
